The problem

What it usually means

Application first. A pad that fits *your* caliper and rotor setup beats a "premium" label on the wrong hardware.
What to check before you buy
- Year / make / model / engine — and whether front or rear.
- Rotors — are they scored, lipped, or below min thickness? Pads on bad rotors = noise and short life.
- Hardware — abutment clips, slides, pins. Seized slides ruin new pads fast.
- Driving — mostly highway commute? Kids and winter roads? Towing a trailer?
- ABS / sensors — some rears use wear sensors; missing the sensor = light on the dash.
When to come to the counter
If you're DIY: bring YMM and whether it's front or rear.
