The problem
Streaks, chatter, or a frozen frame that won't flex. Eastern Ontario winters punish summer blades.
What it usually means
- Hardened rubber — UV + age; won't wipe clean
- Ice in the frame — conventional frames pack with snow
- Wrong size — "close enough" leaves a dry band
- Worn wiper arm pressure — new blades still skip
Winter / beam-style blades often shed snow better; they're not magic if the arm is bent or the windshield is pitted.
What to check before you buy
- Driver and passenger sizes — often different.
- Rear wiper — hatch / SUV.
- Connector type — hook, pinch tab, side lock (photo helps).
- Washer nozzles — clogged nozzles look like "bad wipers."
