The problem
Everything under the hood looks like a white bottle. You don't want to pour the wrong fluid into the wrong hole — and Ontario heat, cold, and salt make fluid health matter.
What it usually means
Your vehicle needs a few different fluids. They are not interchangeable. Labels and colours help, but the cap and the manual win.
Common fluids (plain language)

What to check before you buy
- Engine cold or warm per manual for oil.
- Park level.
- Read the cap — many say the fluid type.
- If the reservoir is empty or the warning light is on, don't just top and ignore.
Safety — stop and ask
- Green / orange / pink coolant: use the type for your vehicle — mixing wrong coolant causes expensive damage.
- Brake fluid on paint: wipe carefully; it can damage clearcoat.
- Anything that smells burnt or looks milky: come talk to us or a shop before a long drive.
When to come to the counter
- You know the fluid but not the specification
- Warning light or sudden drop in level
- Winter prep (coolant strength, washer −40 mix)
